TSU conducts Intercollege Visual Arts Competition, awards CAASUC winners in celebration of National Arts Month

Promoting and celebrating artistic talents and excellence, Tarlac State University celebrated the National Arts Month by conducting the Intercollege Visual Arts Competition and recognizing the winners of the recently concluded CAASUC III (Culture and the Arts Association of State Universities and Colleges in Region III) Virtual Regional Showcase of Talents 2021 earlier today (February 28) via Zoom and Facebook Live.

Promoting and celebrating artistic talents and excellence, Tarlac State University celebrated the National Arts Month by conducting the Intercollege Visual Arts Competition and recognizing the winners of the recently concluded CAASUC III (Culture and the Arts Association of State Universities and Colleges in Region III) Virtual Regional Showcase of Talents 2021 earlier today (February 28) via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The said event themed “Sining ng Pag-asa” was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Services through the Culture and Arts Unit headed by Prof. Marcelino Balanquit.

“Tunay nga namang napa-panahon ang tema para sa taong ito, 2022, Sining ng Pag-asa. Kinikilala nito ang sining bilang bukal ng pag-asa sa kabila ng nararanasan nating pandemya at nagbubukas pa rin ito sa atin ng mga bagong oportunidad upang makapag-isip nang mahusay na pamamaraan upang ma-i-pagdiwang ang ganitong mahalagang gawain para sa kulturang Pilipino,” said Dr. Dexter Manzano, Institutional Student Programs and Services (ISPS) Unit Head, on behalf of SAS OIC-Director Prof. Gherold Benitez.

The first part of the program featured students’ entries in the five categories: Charcoal Rendering, Pencil Drawing, Painting, Poster Making, and Photography.

Meanwhile, for the second half of the event, Prof. Balanquit awarded certificates of recognition to 21 student-representatives of the university who were named champions in various categories of CAASUC III Virtual Regional Showcase of Talents 2021.

In a message, Prof. Balanquit stated that he is thankful for the annual celebration of the National Arts Month because it serves as a way to showcase different talents as well as the country’s culture, tradition, and arts.

Presidential Proclamation No. 683, promulgated by then President Corazon C. Aquino, declares February of every year as National Arts Month to celebrate artistic excellence and pay tribute to the Filipino heritage and culture’s uniqueness and diversity.
